What is zero depreciation cover?

Reviewed October 2026 · General guidance; your policy wording and insurer decide your claim.

Zero-depreciation (also called “nil dep” or “bumper-to-bumper”) is an add-on. With it, the insurer pays for replaced parts without deducting depreciation.

It usually still excludes consumables like oil, nuts and bolts, and it often limits how many claims per year qualify. It is most valuable for newer cars with costly plastic and fibre parts.
